Witton Street Quayside pub closes after Covid outbreak
THE Quayside pub in Northwich has closed following a Covid outbreak.
Cheshire West and Chester Council urged everyone in the city on Saturday May 22 to undergo a PCR test following an increase in coronavirus cases.
The call comes after it was confirmed that a member of the public who contracted coronavirus entered a number of pubs in the city.
The Quayside pub on Witton Street has apologized to customers, but says safety is paramount.
In a social media post, a spokesperson for the pub said: ‘We would like to let all of our lovely customers know that unfortunately due to the rise of Covid in Northwich this week we have made the difficult decision. to close our doors.
“It is a heartbreaking decision that we must make after the most difficult year for any business, but we must protect all of our staff and our customers because safety is paramount.”
Staff said they have been waiting for further updates from Track and Trace and Public Health England since the outbreak was confirmed last Saturday.
The pub added: “We now have confirmation that a member of the public entered a number of public houses in Northwich over the weekend with Quayside being one of them.

“All of our staff do weekly lateral flow tests, but we made the decision ourselves to close our doors until all staff had full PCR tests.
“The health and safety of all of our staff and customers is our top priority, and we are doing everything we can to keep the spread to a minimum.”
