Netflix announces Robin Robin d’Aardman Animation
One of the world’s most beloved animation studios, Aardman continues to produce stop-motion classics that delight all who see. them. Of Wallace and Gromit series at Chicken coop and Sheep shaun, the studio with a soft voice, plasticine figures are a welcome sight in an animated landscape filled with Boss Babies. While the quality of each entry in canon varies, Aardman’s movies and specials tend to woo audiences by being sincere and idiosyncratic.
This brings us to the last of Aardman, a 30-minute Christmas special called Robin robin. At first glance, it comes down to a well the studio knows best: youprobable animal pairings. Robin robin, based on the teaser, follows a robin who is raised by mice (although we yearn for a movie called “Raised By Rats” – doesn’t that sound amazing? These types of stories are usually winners for the studio, dating from Wallace and Gromit the first releases of designer Nick Park, such as Creature comforts. Here’s how Netflix describes the special:
When her egg accidentally rolls into a landfill, Robin is raised by a loving family of mice. As she gets older, her differences become more apparent. Robin goes on a junkyard to end all the heists to prove to her family that she can be a really good mouse – but ends up finding out who she really is.
There is a little Chicken coop in the description of Netflix, especially the big topic of a “break-in to end all break-ins”. Bronte Carmichael, best known for playing Christopher Robin’s daughter in Christophe robin, takes the lead as holder Robin. Meanwhile, Adel Akhtar of Murdered by my father and Enola Holmes plays the father mouse. Richard E. Grant plays Magpie, Robin’s supportive friend Gillian Anderson completes the cast as the villainous Cat.
Robin robin arrives on Netflix on November 27, and honestly, there has to be a worse way to kick off the holiday season than an Aardman special. We will try to find one.
