Errol Spence’s trainer, Derrick James, has described why Terence Crawford is a dangerous fighter. He also explained why he thinks “Bud” has incredible athleticism.
Spence put on a stellar performance against Yordenis Ugas last night and stopped the Cuban in the 10th round to unify the WBA, WBC and IBF welterweight championships. Crawford holds the WBO title at 147 pounds and it’s plausible that Spence could face the Omaha boxer next in a bid to go undisputed.

Here’s what James said in an interview with Fight Hype:
“He’s a good fighter, Terence Crawford is a phenomenal athlete, phenomenal athleticism. But athleticism always fades and when you get to a certain point, regardless of age.”
When asked about Crawford’s fight IQ, Spence’s trainer seemed to dismiss his boxing skills and reiterated how fast “Bud” is:
“Athletics, he’s very quick like a cat, his movement, pretty quick. I think he looks great, he doesn’t diminish the man.”

Terence Crawford vs. Errol Spence Jr.
Terence Crawford and Errol Spence are widely regarded as the two best welterweights in the world. It remains to be seen if a superfight between the two undefeated fighters can take place in late 2022 or early 2023.
Spence is naturally the larger of the two. “The Truth” fought the majority of his career at 147 pounds. During this time, Crawford began his boxing journey as a lightweight and rose through the ranks.
Either way, both have immense punching power and have recorded knockout wins against big name opponents. Crawford became the first man to stop Shawn Porter in his last fight and dismantled Kell Brook in four rounds.
Spence also successfully knocked out Brook in 2017 and became the first boxer to stop Ugas last night at AT&T Stadium.

Despite previous speculation that Spence and Crawford would fight, a fight never materialized. However, now that “Bud” is a free agent and has a chance to go uncontested, the fight should be easier to go.
