For the first time in his career, Chad Johnson will step into the ring.

The former NFL player and Bengals star, once known as Chad Ochocinco, will face off in a boxing match against Brian Maxwell. As part of the Floyd Mayweather v Logan Paul undercard, Johnson’s presence will bring another celebrity into the fold of this star-studded event.

Johnson has never boxed before and called his fight with Maxwell “one-of-a-kind” in a recent interview.

“I never thought of getting in the ring,” Johnson said, according to SBNation.com. “I never thought there would be an opportunity to do it. But I love boxing. I am friends with all boxers because I love and study all of this.

“I didn’t expect something like this to happen. When Floyd called, the first thing I wanted to know was how long I had to prepare. Once I knew I had enough time to be like myself in there, I knew I could do it.

Indeed, Johnson prepared and at one point trained with the Charlo Brothers for his fight against Maxwell. Maxwell is 0-3 in his boxing career, but is 2-2 in MMA bouts. He clearly has the upper hand over his opponent from an experience standpoint, but will Johnson be able to make the fight worthwhile?
